Learning Objections
This highly flexible activity can be used in all types of organisations with teams, work groups, mixed workshop participants and on one to one coaching interventions designed to:
- Identify individual strengths and weaknesses
- Clarify individual possibilities for growth
- Help individuals understand how they currently impact on others
- Promote understanding among teams members
- Encourage and help to develop a feedback culture
How it works
Over a number of interactive rounds team members / players receive and give feedback on specific attributes that the giver believes they should display less of, maintain, or do more of. Each player is also collecting a total of nine attributes they believe best fits with their own self perception.
Whilst a degree for raised awareness and learning occurs during the card exchange phase it's the well structured evaluation phase that enables team and individual to harvest real growth and leave with a practical, simple and coherent development plan.
At the heart of this activity is a set of 230 cards each featuring a different behaviour. The individual words are primarily positive but some people might perceive or interpret certain words as negative due to their own life experience, professional situation or stage of personal development. What one person sees as a strength another may well see as a weakness. It is the mutual exchange of these personal interpretations that lies at the core of Personality Pokers effectiveness.
Whilst Personality Poker can be used as a stand alone resource it is equally effective supporting sessions such as the self disclosure and feedback elements of the JOHARI Window.
